Mowbray Rangers 4 Melton Foxes 1

Scorers: Ross Cragg, Harrison Mayes (3)

Rangers got off to a great start in this local derby, and scored twice in the first 10mins. Cragg scored first for Rangers, turning in a Jones cross and a couple of minutes later Mayes latched onto a loose ball in the six-yard box to score from close range. Goal chances for Foxes were limited as the Rangers defence snuffed out any danger, leaving goalkeeper Thorn little to do in the first half. Rangers came close to a third when Mogg hit the bar from distance.

The second-half started much like the first half ended, with Rangers going forwards. The Rangers midfield was too strong for Foxes and were able to join in the waves of attack. Jones caused problems for Foxes all match on the right-wing and managed a few shots on goal. Against the run-of-play, Foxes got a goal back when the Rangers defence failed to take the opportunity to clear. Foxes sensed an opportunity to equalise and started to pile players forward, but Mayes killed the match off when he poached a goal for Rangers to make it 3-1. Mayes got his hat-trick soon after to secure local bragging-rights for Rangers.
